Hiking in Lillehammer - MESNAELVA

Our first hiking tips is along the Mesna river. There you will encounter fantastic nature with beautiful waterfalls and rapids. If you need a cold shower or bath, we recommend you try the Mesna river. There are many lovely places, but be careful!

It is just as nice in winter as it is in summer, spring and autumn.

P.S: Remember good shoes! There may be ice on the trail.

Description and markings on the maps can be found below.

 Have a nice trip!

You can start walking from the center of Lillehammer or from Stampesletta, Badedammen (see the first map , it´s located right by Birkebeineren Hotel). It´s also possible to take a city bus from the train station more information her

Stampesletta, Badedammen is also a nice bathing spot.

From here you have to cross the Finna bridge (see snow picture above) and follow the way-marking with and signs for Mesna Kultursti. You can walk along the river and go back when you want, or it is also possible to go to the Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena. When you cross the old stone bridge Collets bru (see picture and map below) you can follow the Mesna river all the way to Kroken and follow the road Kantvegen to the topp of the Ski Jumping Arena. Or a shorter walk, instead of following the path up along the river after the old stone bridge Collets bru. You go straight ahead towards the road. There you follow the road down and you will arrive at the bottom the ski jumping area.
