When you travel around Northern Norway along the sea, you have a great chance of catching fish, not just small fish, but also huge ones regardless of where you are near the sea.
To catch fish, it's a good idea to remember a fishing rod and a good lure. If you don't have a fishing rod, you can find a local sports shop in the city you are in!
To find a good fishing spot from land, you should look for places where the sea is deep and where you can stand safely.
Here there is most likely a great chance of catching cod, halibut and pollock.
If you have the opportunity to rent a boat or take part in organized trips, the chance of big fish is naturally greater.
REMEMBER, the world's largest halibut caught with a fishing rod from land, was caught by a German tourist back in 2011 and weighed an incredible 245 kilos! You can read about the German here.
Buy fishing card? You do not need to buy a "fishing card" to fish in the sea. If you are going to fish in fresh water you must buy a "fishing card".
As the website for buying fishing licenses is only in Norwegian, the easiest way would be to ask a local or go to the nearest sports shop for help.
Norwegians can appear a bit quiet, but if you ask for help, we are usually quick to help!
